Dr Nokubonga Khoza

Dr Nokubonga Khoza is a highly sought-after specialist dermatologist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Renowned for her expertise in treating skin of colour, she brings a culturally sensitive, inclusive, and evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of skin, hair, and nail conditions. With over a decade of experience and global recognition, Dr Khoza is dedicated to empowering individuals to feel confident in their skin through education, science, and compassion.
A graduate of the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (2003), Dr Khoza completed her Fellowship in Dermatology with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2011.
As an academic, she has served as an honorary consultant and lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where she helped train medical students, nurses, and dermatology registrars. She also acted as a liaison for the university’s International Exchange Programme, collaborating with leading dermatologists across the globe.
In a landmark achievement, Dr Khoza established South Africa’s first dedicated Immunobullous Disease Clinic at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital, which she continues to run. She is a published author in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to dermatology textbooks on subjects such as permanent hair loss, pigmentation disorders, melasma, autoimmune bullous diseases, and the dangers of unregulated skin lightening.
Dr Khoza is a respected international speaker, regularly presenting at global dermatology congresses and bringing back the latest innovations to her patients in South Africa. Her clinical interests include skin of colour dermatology, pigmentation, hair disorders, acne and scar management, and aesthetic dermatology, all approached with deep respect for skin biology, cultural context, and safety.
